Forty Acres Fresh Market News September 25, 2024

Berry Delicious!

The first day of fall was this past Sunday, September 22nd. The berry season is hanging on by a thread. So this week, we suggest you get the best out of raspberry season with this puff pastry berry-basil shortcake recipe.

Have You Grown Good Yet?

Summer is over. Fall is here and the Grown Good Box is 6 short weeks from being a 2024 memory. If you want the best produce from local growers including Urban Growers Collective, Windy City Harvest, Smiling M Farms, and Mick Klug Farm you've got to act now!

What's in the box? This week you could get fall staples like apples, pears, and concord grapes, or the final summer holdover, raspberries. Turnip greens and mustard greens are finally on the scene. Maybe your box will contain a Southern surprise with a generous helping of purple pole beans.

You won't know what combination of local fruit and veggies will grace your door until it arrives. And that's the fun part.

The Grown Good Box is only $35 and can be found in "Specialty Boxes" under the Fresh Produce Boxes section. Do not let another good thing pass you by.

We Have The P.O.W.E.R.!

On Saturday September 21, Forty Acres Fresh Market continued our annual role as the produce sponsor of the 9th annual Austin P.O.W.E.R. 5K run/walk race.

We weren’t just donating random cases of produce. Nope. We selected fruit geared specifically toward an athlete’s needs.

Oranges help rehydrate the body, add electrolytes, and can help with muscle repair. Bananas help replace lost sodium and potassium and reduce the risk of muscle cramping after working out.

We love meeting our Austin neighbors

While Liz was getting her steps in for 3.1 miles, Agela manned the Forty Acres table giving out oranges and bananas and spreading the good word about our fresh produce delivery services and our produce stand at the Austin Town Hall Farmers Market.

It was a joy to be out in the sunshine with the Austin community! A special shout-out to Justice, age 8 who decided to walk the 5K this year. We sent her on her way with fruit, and good wishes!

Community health is wealth and we are so glad to be part of an event that gets Austin residents moving. And a special highlight is the race course passing by our pending store at 5713 West Chicago Avenue.

Looks amazing from the outside, right? Want a glimpse of the interior? An exclusive look at the progress thus far is just one click away.
