Who We Are
Forty Acres Fresh Market is an independent, Black woman owned grocery business at the forefront of Chicago's healthy food access movement. We specialize in selling high quality fresh produce at an everyday low price. Founded in response to the lack of fresh food options on Chicago's West Side, we currently operate as a mobile grocer, running seasonal pop-up markets and year round produce delivery service.
Forty Acres Fresh Market is a business with a mission to increase access to affordable, high quality, fresh food in underserved areas. We believe in the power of communities to develop, build, and sustain their own resources and are proud to be part of economic revitalization on Chicago's westside. Join us on in our efforts to ensure that every neighborhood has healthy food options available to all!
Food is the foundation of good health. Access to fresh, whole, nutrient dense food should be easy for everyone. Unfortunately, for hundreds of thousands of Chicagoland residents it is nearly impossible to find affordable healthy food in their communities
We have found a home for our store (5713 W. Chicago Ave.) and are currently under construction.
A Note From Liz
Hello Forty Acres Fresh Market Family!
I founded Forty Acres Fresh Market in 2017 in response to the lack of fresh food options on Chicago's West Side. On January 20, 2018 Forty Acres Fresh Market launched its first pop-up market at Sankofa Cultural Arts and Business to much positive customer feedback. We carried a full selection of fresh fruits and vegetables at an everyday low price.
We currently operate pop-up markets in underserved communities and have consistently operated pop-ups on a monthly basis since our January launch.
We are so excited to offer both ad hoc and subscription delivery services! Our goal is to provide access to high-quality produce that everyone can afford and we are so happy that you get to join us as we grow!
We look forward to growth that includes expanding into our first brick and mortar retail space, entering new neighborhoods, and being a force for community health and wellness.
Produce to the People!
