Calling All Construction Workers

Bring your building skills to Forty Acres Fresh Market

No. The Building Department has not approved our construction permit. As of today our application has approval from 12 out of the 13 code disciplines needed (yes even Fire Prevention is approved). The sole holdout is Zoning, from whom we are awaiting a final determination on our Administrative Adjustment application.

The Department of Planning and Development is taking their sweet time getting us an answer. And you are not reading the above status update wrong. Our application for a construction permit has been under review for a year.

But one pony don't stop no show so we're staying ready so we don't have to get ready. We are mobilizing the construction team now so that when the permit is issued, we can put shovels in the ground and go!

As you may be aware, this is a 7-figure development project and we want to make sure that westside tradespeople are getting their fair share of the pie. The project's general contractor, Milhouse Construction, co-developer Westside Health Authority, and Alderman Chris Taliaferro are holding a community outreach event for union construction industry service providers. This event will be held Thursday September 7 at the Columbus Park Refectory at 5701 W Jackson Blvd 60644 at 1:00PM.
