Forty Acres Fresh Market currently operates as a mobile produce vendor, specializing in delivery service, popup markets, and retail development. Forty Acres is currently in a rapid growth phase as we expand our operations, including the development of a brick and mortar store in Chicago's Austin neighborhood.

We are seeking an analytical, forward thinking, results oriented marketer who is eager to use their creativity and management expertise in a growth stage food business.

The Job:

We're a rapidly growing, mission-driven, healthy food retail startup and are looking to add a curious and data-driven Marketing Lead to fuel our growth efforts. In this role, you will drive the flawless execution of Forty Acres Fresh Market’s strategic marketing plan. Your work will shape and better define Forty Acres’ brand identity, market positioning, and value proposition to drive customer attraction, engagement, acquisition, retention, and LTV maximization across our expanding sales channels. This role will play a highly impactful part in driving customer growth. Reporting to the Founder/Owner and partnering with our Market and Delivery teams, you will be responsible for working collaboratively and cross-functionally in understanding the needs of our shoppers and creating targeted content and programs to engage and delight them.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Collaboratively develop, execute, and evaluate marketing campaigns that increase the organization’s public profile, pop-up market traffic, delivery subscriptions, and brand recognition.

  • Develop/create/edit visual and written content across content pillars, aligning with brand objectives for email, SMS and social media (across transactional, lifecycle, triggered, and promotional touch points) that increase retention, reorder rate, and LTV across key subscriber segments. 

  • Lead operational planning for CRM program execution including (but not limited to) setting up complex automated communication journeys; defining business rules for content, triggers, segmentation, channel, and cadence; maintaining promotional calendars.

  • Customer research projects as assigned (methodologies can include survey, interviews, observation, and focus groups) to continuously refine Forty Acres brand positioning and value proposition.

  • Work with Founder/Owner to craft a communications calendar leveraging content, offer and personalization to drive a steady flow of engaged subscribers.

  • Educate our customer base about our products, and their benefits through curation, production and timely delivery of weekly e-newsletter, subscriber-focused content and more.

  • Take ownership of all KPIs for your programs and lifecycle segments, and communicate results and recommendations to Forty Acres Fresh Market leadership team.

  • Partner with market and delivery teams to maintain consistent and holistic customer experience while increasing subscriber engagement and reactivation.

  • Coordinate website maintenance. Ensure that new and consistent information (blog posts, article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly and optimized for SEO

  • Occasionally assist with in person marketing of pop-up markets, delivery services, and brick & mortar location including, but not limited to, tabling at events, outreach to community members, and designing/distributing flyers

  • Seek media coverage for Forty Acres Fresh Market’s activities by engaging with and growing current list of press contacts that cover food/produce/food justice; writing and releasing press releases about special events or launches; pitching stories to relevant press contacts and bloggers

  • Assist with documenting major events, pop-up markets and daily operations to create new content

  • Administrative duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Marketing generalist with 4-6 years experience in direct-to-consumer marketing across roles including email, digital, CRM management, and content creation. Subscription experience is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with at least one ESP (Mailchimp experience highly preferred) and have created campaigns and automated/triggered programs with technical capabilities of the platform.

  • Proficiency and experience with content creation and management tools including Wix, Wordpress, Canva, HTML, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Google suites, and project management tools.

  • 2-3 years experience of managing and scaling CRM

  • Strong storytelling, writing skills (copywriting, blogs, email, website copy, social posts), and design sensibilities

  • 1-2 years marketing analytics experience: Google Analytics, IG analytics, TikTok, FB ads, CRM, SEO

  • Self-motivated and energetic individual with a high level of initiative who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable with ambiguity, and has a passion for continuous improvement

  • Strong communicator with distinctive voice in writing and online, and great public presence

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

  • Entrepreneurial experience: startup or self-employed

  • Supervisory experience (for possible intern assignments)

  • Team building and cross-functional collaboration experience

  • Valid driver’s license for use of company vehicle, if needed

  • Occasional weekend availability for event coverage

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for equitable healthy food systems

 

Job Type: Full-time 

This position is Chicago-based, but primary location is remote work from home. 1-2 days per week on-site work as needed.

Salary: Starting at $60,000.00 per year + quarterly performance based bonuses
